I can’t believe that it’s actually taken me this long to look for TH goodies on Etsy, the online wonderland of arts and crafts… but after reading a recent URLesque post on Etsy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles finds, I was inspired. What wonders would I find if I plugged “Tokio Hotel” in the Etsy search box? Visions of crocheted Bills filled my head as I clicked.

After weeding out a bunch of listings for commercial-looking keychains (WTF?), I struck gold.

First, two of my favorite things — Bill and Día de los Muertos — together! UlteriorMotivesInc is selling this original Bill-themed sugar skull painting for less than $20.

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I’ve posted here. It’s kind of funny, because I was going to do another April Fool’s post (making two April Fool’s posts in a row), but I didn’t really find anything good. The Lady Gaga thing was mildy amusing, but not nearly weird or shocking enough. I’m still all for a TH/Gaga project, so maybe I’m just bitter.

I don’t expect that anyone cares where I’ve been for the last year, but the short answer is: out of this crazy fandom. I quit a shitty job and started writing for a living, something that’s hard to do when you devote an inexplicable amount of time on fan stuff. But I haven’t taken a break from being a fan. Just the cliques, the soul-sucking drama and the fandom politics. I decided, though, that I will keep adding to this blog as things strike me, and something struck me today.

I discovered cakecentral.com while working on an interview, and decided to pop “tokio hotel” in the search box. Not gonna lie, I was fully hoping for a life-sized cake bust of Bill (something like this). What did come up was still very cool — you can’t go wrong with black fondant and flames! These cakes aren’t super new (not old either — they’re all 2010), but none have many comments, so I figured it was never too late to show some love (click on the cakes for more pics):

Clevver TV: Are You Ready For Tokio Hotel, America?

Kind of weird report from Clevver TV, considering Tokio Hotel made their US debut two tears ago:

Based on the comments, though, it seems like there are quite a few newer fans in the US waiting for their first Tokio Hotel concert – which is encouraging, especially since there has been so little US promotion for Humanoid so far. The band has evolved so much in the past couple of years, I don’t think the “fresh start” approach is a bad idea.

Keep following the “Welcome to Humanoid City” tour as it happens (today: St. Petersburg!) over at Tokio Hotel America.

Magazine Cafe = Awesome

After being offline the entire day and missing the news that Bill has a giant feature in this week’s Stern magazine, I came home to a personal e-mail from Bhanu at Magazine Cafe, spreading the word that they have the issue available for preorder. Now that is service! The Import price is only $8.25 US, + extremely affordable shipping (I paid $5.10 to Delaware). There is no better deal on this magazine while its on the stands in Germany. Thank you Magazine Cafe!!

Oh. And the Stern photo spread is SICK. Scans are already going around. This is more than worth the $13-15, believe that.
